Our Mission

The Office of the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy on Tuberculosis works with the TB community to advance global efforts to end tuberculosis by 2030.  The UN Special Envoy advocates for financial, political, scientific, and technical support necessary to achieve this ambitious goal.

Key objectives:

  • Emphasize the importance of TB as part of the broader health, social and development agendas
  • Raise awareness of TB to help secure the necessary resources to make the world TB-free
  • Ensure political commitment and support for the implementation of high impact and innovative TB interventions
  • Enhance research investments in innovation and scaling up of novel tools by both the the public and private sectors

The work of the UN Special Envoy is supported by a World Health Organization (WHO) Secretariat based in the Global TB Programme, which provides guidance for the Special Envoy’s key activities.
